29. 06. 2010
Belgrade, June 29, 2010. – The 60th anniversary of the Blood Transfusion Service was recently officially marked by the MMA’s Blood Transfusion Institute.
Addressing the guest present to that occasion among which there was a large number of the MMA’s personnel and trasfusiologists from civil healthcare facilities, Col. Prof. Dr. Miroljub Trkuljić, the head of the Blood Transfusion Institute, began with a retrospective look at the historical background of the development of the Military Blood Transfusion Service. The first traces of it date back to the first soldier on the Thessalonica Front on whom the first transfusion of the conserved blood was performed. The first Blood Transfusion Service was established exactly 60 years ago. It was a starting point for all civilian blood transfusion services in the Former Yugoslavia.
Today, the MMA’s Blood Transfusion Institute is the organizational unit boasting the state-of-the-art equipment. It operates according to the highest professional and scientific standards and traditionally cherishes good cooperation with blood transfusion centers in Serbia and the region. What is the most important is that we have a vision of our development in the future and that are heading forward towards our set goals’, said Col. Prof. Dr. Miroljub Trkuljić.
